Although we are called Acupuncturists we actually perform many different modalities under the larger Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) & Eastern Medicine umbrella. With over 5000 years of practice these techniques are all designed to help you feel better in your body, transform your mind and help you lead your best life. Here is a bit of information about how these ancient medicine practices help you feel your best.


ACUPUNCTURE

The process of acupuncture is to insert small thinner than hair needles into the skin to restore balance in the body to achieve optimal health. These needles are inserted at specific points on the body called Acupuncture Points.

How it helps you:

Acupuncture is a fantastic way to help improve your mobility, reduce inflammation and pain, reduce stress and improve a more relaxed state, improve energy and even help with digestion. In my practice acupuncture is the most essential part of the session as it is able to help treat the root of your primary concerns.


5 EMOTIONS

Traditional Chinese Medicine identifies five primary emotions: fear, anger, joy, worry & grief. By recognizing the predominant emotion in each session we are able to better connect the mind and body. Utilizing these techniques can help build, move, and transform Qi. This helps promote a state of healing in the body to obtain optimal health.

HOW THIS HELPS YOU:

5 Emotions conversations are typically done at the beginning of the session and are meant to help identify how you are feeling in your mind and body. It gives us an opportunity to lean into what feel need attention to transform.


TUINA MASSAGE

Tuina Massage is used to relax the body, alleviate pain, and encourage its natural healing capabilities. This is achieved by performing techniques on the body like rubbing, kneading, rolling, chopping, and direct finger pressure. These techniques are performed along the meridians on the body to restore optimal health.

How it helps you:

This treatment is often used in combination with acupuncture to help open the body before insertion of needles. Great for folks with chronic pain, fibromyalgia, anxiety and depression, stress management, and even digestive issues.


Fire CUPPING

Cupping is used help local blockages in the body. These blockages can manifest in pain or tightness. While using fire to introduce head to the centre of glass cups, a partial vacuum is created. This technique is called Fire Throwing Method. The cups are applied to the skin and may be retained or moved across the body to help improve health.

How it helps you:

This treatment is a great treatment for tight and painful back, deep knots in the muscles, those wanting a deeper tissue treatment, folks with poor circulation, chronic coughs and onset of a cold. This treatment is fantastic at drawing out stagnant and stuck feelings and great at warming the body.


GUASHA

Guasha or commonly referred to as scraping is a 2000-year-old practice in Traditional Chinese Medicine. The technique of using a tool, typical stone or porcelain, to scrape in one direction.

How it helps you:

Guasha can help relieve pain and tightness in local areas of the body, respiratory conditions, arthritis, and stiff neck, to name a few.


EASTERN NUTRITION

From an Eastern Nutrition perspective, we can analyze current diet patterns and apply Traditional Chinese Medicine diet to improve health. Dietary modification is typical for many clients. This can help encourage proper nourishment of the body to improve health.

When we think of getting the most out of our sessions there are nutritional modifications that can be made to help improve your health and vitality. This takes the healing outside of the 4 treatment walls in the clinic. Nutritional changes are essential to all folks and most importantly those coming in for dermatological and digestive challenges. We will use these changes to help your body overcome what might feel like an excess or deficiency in your body.
